[WSBAPT] EIN-TIN troubles

I reported last week that I needed to do one for my mother’s Trust and got the “101” code.  It meant that there were other entities with a similar name and that I should call (no answer; too busy), fax or file via paper (a black hole).

I tried the next day and put “XYZ Trust dated ___________, 20____” so it would differentiate it from other trusts of the same name and I got the EIN with the automatic assistant.  Not sure if that would help in your instance.

Is anyone else having trouble getting EIN-TINs for trusts on occasion? The online assistant instructs us to fax file, action is not taken on the fax filing, and I cannot reach anyone on the phone (“due to extremely high call volume”).
