Client owns Hawaii condo (Maui County) through his 401(k) Plan (Vanguard). Client is in the process of selling condo when he dies.

Named PR in Client’s Will is trying to close the sale, but is asked to provide name of successor trustee, apparently to sign the deed.

I am in the process of opening probate in Washington, but it will take a few days and the PR does not want to lose the sale.

My hope that, once appointed, the PR can speak directly to the financial institution and obtain plan information.

From what I can see online in the solo/self directed 401(k), the trustee is Vanguard, so the client would have been the "plan administrator.” Not sure why they are asking for successor trustee.

Any pointers? Who would need to sign the deed?
