There are supposed to be "good Samaritan" laws in place to protect those who are trying to help, otherwise why would anyone bother trying in this litigious society?

Of course, there are risks, as Wayne mentioned, but some of the worst are if there is some sort of spinal injury. But if it's a choice between burning to death or making a risky move, go ahead and move me.

As an aside, whether it's for everyone's assurance or whatever, we are trained in "rapid extrication" techniques, but we are also trained that our safety comes first. We already have one patient, we don't want to get careless and create another.
