[Vision2020] Rape and abortion (was: Sali seeks...)

  I don't think that this is the same thing. They are taking about the price of a woman's virginity. Many 1000s of years ago, men spend a lot of their wealth protecting their young daughters from diseases and from being raped. To pay for the cost, they sold their daughter's virginity. A woman who had sex and was not a virgin was not considered of value because she most likely had diseases she would pass on to her children, and may also be carrying another man's child. In those days medical care was not as good as it is today : ). 
   
  This is part of the reason that Joesph had a difficult time accepting Mary and her baby Jesus. She was considered damaged goods. 
   
  So it made since to repay a father for his trouble and expense of protecting his daughter, and to force the man that takes her virginity to care for her all her life as no other man would want her.

Donovan,

I suggest that any women raped should be given the choice as to 
whether or
not she bears her rapist's child. Women also have rights that are 
tantamount
over that of any fetus. If you were a woman you would probably be 
able to
understand that better.

Are you advocating that we kill a baby because its father is a 
rapist, or
because they have a 10% chance of being born with a birth defect?

I consider rape and incest a major felony, and it should be 
prosecuted, but
we shouldn't take their crimes out on their children.
