Dear Mr. Schwaller,

On March 3, 1990, Pastor Wilson finished an opinion piece for the LMT with these words:

“Incidentally, the proceedings were taped, and things were said which would provide a good lawyer with a field day.”

On 12/19/2003, Pastor Wilson delivered the following threat to the two UI provosts:

“Please note that this letter is not threatening a suit for defamation. . . But it is to let you know that I have been counseled to consider it, and that the slanderous Quinlan/Ramsey piece does bring the phrase ‘reckless disregard for the truth’ to mind.”

On February 18, 2006, Pastor Wilson posted the following threat to Nick Gier on his blog (since removed):

“As for those who prefer to wage malicious smear campaigns, we are eager to give them an opportunity to prove their charges. Our legal team is preparing for when and where that will be.”

And last week you delivered a similar threat to me:

“I accuse you of nothing. I threaten you with nothing. I simply point out that some may construe as libelous, the following words you have posted publicly:”

With your coincidental pattern in mind, I want to amend my ADVICE to you. I really believe you should terminate Gregory Dickison as your legal counsel because he is an incompetent attorney, and I think you should take someone to court or else learn some new rhetorical tricks; this old-hat stuff is much too boring.
