[Liability Insurance] Florida Bar RPPTL Insurance & Surety Committee Monthly Call Scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2014, beginning at Noon

Attached are the following for the monthly Insurance & Surety Committee conference call scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2014 at noon: (1) agenda; (2) minutes of the April 21, 2014 telephone conference; (3) minutes of the May 30, 2014 in-person meeting; and (4) a copies of cases that will be discussed during the call.

Monday's speaker will be Pat Wielinski of Cokinos, Bosien & Young out of Irving, Texas.  Pat is a nationally renowned expert in insurance coverage.  He will be speaking to us about the recent Owners Insurance Company v. Jim Carr Homebuilder, LLC. decision, in which the Alabama Supreme Court held that construction defects can be an "occurrence" and, in a more unique analysis, held the "Your Work" exclusion did not apply.  Pat will further put this decision in context with other state supreme courts' decisions over the last several years.  Also attached to are the Jim Carr Homebuilder case, as well as to other cases, K & L Homes, Inc. v. American Family Mutual Insurance Company and Nat'l Union Fire Insurance Company v. Turner Construction Company, which Pat will discuss.
