[WSBARP] Scrivenor's Error on Deed

Good for you, Brent. Many people outgrow dyslexia so keep on planning on that.

I suggested the change because of lay people expecting the mail address to matter; they don’t know anything about legal descriptions of tax lot numbers; and I want to meet their expectations. It is true that those of us in the ‘legal field’ would not rely on a mail address; but I believe that most folks not doing legal work would rely on that address.

It's not brave. I am dyslexic. I tell my clients when they onboard which is why for everything I do from EP to sending out pleadings or Deeds (which were signed by the Executor BTW), I ask them to verify because I truly do not see when I make simple transposition errors.

But I hate it. I hate making mistakes and having it slip through the multiple processes in place that are created to guard against it.

I like knowing that I don't have to change it - but I think I will simply because it will make me feel better.

I agree with correcting it. And brave of you to admit it. I think it’s always best to correct a mistake you make. There’s a lot of credibility created that way—oddly. Clients appreciate the honesty.

I made a scrivener's error that was not caught by the client. I transposed two numbers on a deed of personal representative where I have the section that says Property Commonly Known As: 4390 Main Street.....and I wrote 4930 Main Street.

Everything else is correct. Parcel number. Legal description. Everything except that. The recording was done nearly two years ago. A call to the County auditor (not King, Pierce, or Thurston) said that they only go by the parcel number and legal description which is why it was not rejected.

Will this error cause any trouble down the line in 50-75 years when the relatives are looking to get rid of this property? (I say this because it is a property that is a family jewel....maybe the grandkids who are infants now will not want it but staying in the family until then).

Thank you for your thoughts.
