Jeff, while you and your client look for legal options, I suggest you consider intervention by a creative professional neutral experienced with construction and real estate issues. Also, “over emotional” generally suggests behavioral health issues; thinking of those things as a lens through which one approaches negotiation and dispute resolution is very useful.

Even if your client has made up her mind about walking from the job, negotiating an exit plan with help from a neutral may expedite process and reduce drama along with expenses.
