[WSBAPT] Keeping probate open for the next 15 years

Hi All,
I have a probate that involves a decedent receiving funds from the US Victims of State Sponsors of Terrorism Fund. This fund is notoriously slow at paying out as it requires Congress to make an appropriation to it. We have Washington, D.C. counsel handling the federal claim. They want us to keep the probate open until the payout completes in 2039. Is there anything special to file with the local Superior Court so the probate does not get administratively closed? This is in King County. I could file annual status reports, but that seems a little painful.
Counsel also asked me about pre-designating a successor administrator, but I don't believe there is any way to do that. It is intestate and there are multiple family members who would have equal standing to request letters if the current administrator dies before it is complete, which is certainly a possibility in the next 15 years...
Best,
Nick
