[WSBAPT] Family section of will/trust

I try to identify ALL nearest living relatives who would stand to inherit (separate estate) if there were no Will. It is not always easy. Some folks don’t know, or don’t want them in the Will, but in the case(s) you mention, I would be inclined to list ALL siblings, or ALL nieces and nephews in the identification of family section, then note that no relative not listed in Section X. is intended to be a beneficiary. Otherwise, there could be an argument that a sibling/niece/nephew was simply not known about, or forgotten.

For clients with no kids, what do you put in the "Family" section? Just folks who are being named as beneficiaries?

If a person wants to leave something to one sibling, but not the other, do you list both to show that you didn't forget one? How about when a few nieces/nephews are listed but not all?
