[WSBAPT] Minor guardianship vs. SPR 98.16W vs. Probate GAL

I think a cross-appointment as probate GAL and minor guardianship GAL/visitor would be appropriate. I suggest talking with Jean Gompf, cc’d on here. She is really gift at advocating for orphaned children and would be able to guide you through all of these issues.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Minor guardianship vs. SPR 98.16W vs. Probate GAL

Tragically, two recently orphaned minor children will need guardian(s) appointed, they also are the likely recipients of UIM policy payouts because parents were killed in car accident. Finally, as the sole heirs of parents’ estates, they are going to need a GAL appointed to represent their interests in the estate. I represent nominated Personal Representative and Trustee in the Will.

Fortunately, I have not had exactly this situation in my practice, certainly not since our new “court visitor” and UGA went into effect. Is there some way to streamline this so that there are not separate appointments in each matter. I would welcome a quick chat with anyone who has some insight or recent experience in such a matter.
