[WSBAPT] Burial at Home

Thanks, Jim. Just learned there is a way under RCW 68.40 but it is a lot
more than just burying a body plus turns out it is a felony to bury a body
without following all legal steps. Guess my client will need to warm up to
cremation or composting, etc as she can't afford to do what the law
requires.

Sincerely,

Tom

Tom:

I believe there has been an update to statutes regarding disposition of
remains that allow for a more natural disposition, such as composting or
other "green" burial methods. I don't think the new statutes went so far as
to allow someone to be buried in their backyard.

Have a client that wants to be buried on her own property and stay out of
the commercial funeral industry burial and services altogether. Anyone know
how someone's surviving spouse or PR can get physical possession of the body
and bury it on their property - or is there some law against that sort of
thing. She does not want to be cremated which would be the simple solution.
Always something new.

Sincerely,

Tom
