Dear listmates:
Client suspects that stepmother has failed to disclose non-probate
assets naming her or her siblings as beneficiaries in client's father's
estate. No probate has been filed and the will has not been filed with
the court (father died last fall.) I am sending a demand letter to
stepmother requesting she provide us a copy of the will or file it with
the court (citing RCW 11.20.010) so we may obtain a copy. Is there any
statutory authority I can cite that requires stepmother to provide
information about non-probate assets to a named beneficiary? If anyone
has dealt with a similar situation, I would appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance.
