[WSBAPT] PR receives Misapplication reversal check from Decedent's bank

Good morning,

 

This is a new one for me.

 

PR made payments on decedents mortgage to bring payments current in order to
prepare the home for sale. PR received a check from decedent's bank with a
note that says "misapplication reversal" and no further explanation. The
amount of the check appears to be the same as the mortgage payments that
have been paid by the PR.

 

PR is contacting the bank to determine why the check was sent.

 

Has anyone received one of these checks in the context of a probate?
Decedent's affairs were a mess, including being behind on his mortgage.
However, Decedent has significant equity in the home, which is currently on
the market for sale. The PR has not received any notices regarding
foreclosure from the mortgage company/bank.

 

Any insight will be appreciated.
