The Standby Guardian appointed under RCW 11.88.125 is the best alternative to simply a POA, since it creates court oversight in case that is needed during the guardian's absence.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Guardianship appointing POA

I have a situation where there is a court appointed guardian for minors. The guardian is going to be out of the country for work. What is the method for the guardian to bestow authority on another to handle the affairs of the minor, such as medical decisions, etc.? Does the guardian execute a power of attorney granting the attorney in fact powers over the minors? If not, what alternative methods are available?
