The article points out that 89% of the exported plastics were singe-use
food packaging. I noticed that Newman's spaghetti sauce at Winco has
switched from glass jars to plastic. I'm sure it's cheaper to ship
lightweight plastic rather than heavier glass jars. Perhaps we need to
figure out how to about build *disposal *costs into the price of products.

As just about everyone knows, or should know, the three Rs are Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle. Recycle is the last and least desirable option.
<https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1311182?hl=en> "*Disposal?" That
is like treating the natural world as a business in liquidation, to
reference this scholar:*

“There is something fundamentally wrong in treating the Earth as if it were
a business in liquidation.”
― Herman E. Daly

Buying in bulk with re-usable containers is preferable to recyclable or
disposable containers But the spaghetti sauce Ron Force mentioned could be
or might be contained in compostable plastic, which is perhaps better than a*
disposable *container?

*Compostable Plastics Quick Facts*
- Generally Freezer safe
- Depending on resin can handle hot food till 200F.
- Fully compostable in commercial composting operations
- Feel and look like plastics for the most part
