[Vision2020] Family erases Idaho daughter's transgender identity at burial

This entire story is so sad. That the young woman was so torn and unsure of herself that she had a limited support system, that her family couldn't recognize, love and accept her identity, that her grieving ( though narrow minded) family will now be the "poster family" for pro and con on this issue, and will face unending scrutiny.....Nothing positive here.

We have so far to go as a culture. I grieve for everyone in this drama. I will light some candles and make some donations tonight to GLBT organizations which support and EDUCATE parents and families of those undergoing gender transitioning.

I have near and dear friends who have been through this with a very different outcome---they were supportive parents, the transitioning young person knew there was support and care, and that "she" would still be loved as "he". He is doing very well, is highly regarded in his profession, has a wife and children, and an extended family (all of whom accept, appreciate, and love him).

I have a hard time fathoming "conditional love"....I think it says a lot more about the person whose love is sought than the person who is seeking love. "I will only love you if........." is emotional blackmail. It is a a moral and ethical crime. JMHO.

Does the family of the deceased have standing to sue for funerary malpractice?

Do the friends of the deceased, e.g. those who signed the guestbook at the funeral, have standing to bring a class action lawsuit for funerary malpractice?
