And to me, that's the real story, isn't it?

But, this is Idaho, isn't it, where common sense is often trumped by
legislators who don't have the sense God gave a billy goat.

OTOH, perhaps the story is how such a miscreant managed to be elected? I
readily confess to being a Saundra-come-lately to the saga - I didn't know
anything about Patterson until the story hit the news. So, I could well be
mistaken, but based on comments made on the news stories down south, it
seems that no one dug into this POS's background sufficiently before he was
elected, or perhaps it just wasn't published. Perhaps my idealism is
showing, but I certainly hope that had his truly sordid past ("I didn't rape
her, even though I don't remember anything about that time because I had
chemo for Hep C" BS) been available to voters, he never would have been
elected. Assuming, of course, the whacko Tea Bagger effect hasn't
completely infected this state as the plague it truly is, in the same way
some of those nut jobs think it's perfectly OK to place others at risk of
public health epidemics because "vaccines are a government conspiracy" and
"I can raise my livestock - and grow my yogurt cultures - in any way I see
fit to sell commercially because this is Idaho where personal profit is the
real God" crap.

So, maybe the bigger story is the consequences the Internet killing local
journalism? Print newspapers have been going belly up - and investigative
journalism has been cut to the bone in many/most markets - since more & more
of us have turned to the Internet for news, and perhaps the virtual death of
local investigative journalism in smaller markets is something worthy of
discussion?

Of course, I'm at a loss for words on the risks for those of us in the rest
of the state if such a thing can happen in the Boise area. Attack if you
want, but I've seen quotes posted here on the Viz from local candidates,
potential candidates, and failed (thank the good Lord) candidates that never
were published in the local press, so POS candidates being elected due to .
. . anemic local coverage absolutely could happen here.

is not enough. We have a higher mission -- to be of service to them
whereever they require it.

Here's a link to the law on conceal carry permits:

http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/idstat/Title18/T18CH33SECT18-3302.htm

The sheriff was in the right to yank Patterson's permit. And yet now since
he's an elected official he's automatically allowed to conceal carry without
a permit.

I've finally read enough now where I have reached the point that he needs to
become an unelected official. Resign or be ousted via recall. And good
riddance. He's to bad to the bone. :(

As the slow kid on the viz, my apologies for causing any frustrations on
this topic to Tom, Sue, Saundra, Janesta, et. al. en route to reaching my
final opinion.
