Police give out 89 underage drinking tickets at
huge party by Boise State campus Saturday night

Boise police gave out 99 tickets while breaking up a massive party near the Boise State campus late
Saturday, including 89 citations for underage drinking.
The other 10 tickets were for disorderly conduct and having an open container of alcohol, according to
Boise Police reports.
Police were sent to the party, at a home in the 1500 block of Grant Avenue, shortly before midnight
Saturday after getting complaints from neighbors about loud noise and possible underage drinking.
When officers arrived, they found about 250 people at the home and the area around it. Police say many of
those people tried to run away. Others tried to hide inside the house in the attic or backyard, police say.
Boise police had extra patrol officers on duty Saturday night who were being paid overtime from a State of
Idaho grant to curb underage drinking, Boise Police Officer Jermaine Galloway said. That allowed officers to
set up near the house and corral many of the partygoers before they were able to leave, he said.
Galloway estimated that almost all partygoers were under the age of 21. As of Monday morning, no one had
been charged with providing alcohol to minors. Galloway said it appears many of the partygoers brought
alcohol with them to the party: officers saw several people walking up to the party carrying alcohol.
Boise police had been getting complaints from residents of that neighborhood, which is south of campus
between Boise and Broadway Avenues, for more than a month about underage drinking and loud parties in
the area, Galloway said.
Saturday’s party was one of the biggest Boise police have busted up in years, Galloway said.
