As do I. One of the drawbacks of living in a small town is not having all
the amenities - like lots of huge fenced dog parks - that big cities have.
Kudos to City staff for educating folks about what the rules are.
And, this seems like a good time to give another grateful shout-out to those
who worked doggedly <g> to get that acre fenced off-leash dog park for our
canine community members! Regrettably, I've forgotten the names of the
people behind that, but I've never forgotten their hard work & dedication in
making that vision a reality.

Personally, I'd love for the City to have another dog park & I'd definitely
be supportive of efforts by those interested in investigating that option J

Sounds like the city is enforcing the law. Isn't that what they are
supposed to do? If people don't like the law, they should petition the city
council to change it.
I have never thought of the dog park as tiny. There is certainly enough
room there for my 80 lb lab to get a good run in. It is rarely crowded when
I go. THe most I've encountered has been 6 or 7 dogs. If it as crowded as
the author feels, perhaps the city should look at adding another dog park.

Do me a favor Tom and share this with the 20/20 crowd. I'm curious to know
if others have similar concerns. Thanks.

Nancy,
I wanted to share with you an experience I just had this morning while
playing ball with my dog. After going to the Safeway in town, I then headed
to the big park just off Mt. View Road--a few blocks from the Safeway. This
is a favorite place for Akadia to play, as he is an 80lb black lab who needs
to be able to run freely to get the exercise he needs. Shockingly we were
approached by a city employee and told that I had to leash the dog. She told
me I can play ball at the dog park.
This is very upsetting as I have been in that park dozens and dozens of
times to play ball with my dog. I have witnessed dozens and dozens of other
people using the same park to exercise their dog off-leash. The dog park is
a tiny fenced in area overcrowded with dogs and people and I refuse to take
my dog there. Where can I take my dog on a Saturday morning at 8am to play
ball? Is there a park in this town where dogs can be off-leash? I have been
chased out of East City Park and now I have been chased out of the big ball
park on Mt. View.
It appears to me that the city and the parks and recreation department are
doing a poor job in providing places for tax-paying citizens and dog-loving
people a place to take their pets to get exercise and enjoy their parks.
Please get back to me when you have the chance.
Thank you.
Brett
