BSU staffer compelled to tell NCAA of problems

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - An NCAA probe that led to 22 rule violations by
coaches at Boise State University appears to have been triggered by an
email sent more than three years ago by a university employee.

The Idaho Statesman reports the
http://www.khq.com/Global/story.asp?S=14580751 launched its inquiry after
getting an email from a frustrated Amy Christoffersen, a former staffer in
the athletic department compliance office.

Christoffersen says she loves Bronco sports. But she is confident she did
the right thing in alerting NCAA officials of potential problems for some
Bronco teams.

Athletic department employees are required to sign a statement that
they're not aware of rule violations. Christoffersen says she just
couldn't do that based on some of the things she knew.

Boise State acknowledges the infractions and has self-imposed a series of
penalties.
