I don't think anyone here is picking on Arnold. At this point in his
life's success, for all practical purposes, he is beyond being picked
upon. There may be people here who are revealing information about
themselves in reaction to Arnold's activities ...
"We have met the enemy and he is us." Walt Kelly, Earth Day, 1970
If there were not so many drug-using Americans, not so many
money-seeking Mexicans would be trying to sell drugs to Americans.
Without so many drug-selling Mexicans, there would not be so many
battles among the Mexicans over aspects of the American drug market,
and those battles would not so often extend themselves into Arizona,
with fatal consequences on both the American and Mexican sides of the
border.
The Arizona populace's reaction to Mexican immigration pressure is as
much a consequence of Americans' needs for drugs, for agricultural
laborers, and for inexpensive laborers generally, and of the strong
Mexican willingness to supply those needs, as it is a reflection of
preferences among Anglos and Latinos for their own cultures.
If there were not markets of voyeurs for Arnold's body-building and
movies, he would not be the success he is today. If there were not
markets for Mexican-supplied drugs and labor, Arizona, and other
states, would not have some of the problems they have today.
