Yesterday, (February 17) the House State Affairs Committee defeated Representative Dennis Lake's HCR 042.   This resolution was intended to prohibit the Public Employee Retirement System (PERSI) from putting in place a 1% cost of living increase for retirees.  Over the years, PERSI has managed retirement accounts extremely well, and their recommendations should be taken seriously.  Of course, our retirees should receive the support.

Today, Representative Eric Anderson (R-District 1) moved to reconsider.  The vote on a motion to pass HCR 042 passed, along party lines.  Next, the resolution will be considered on the House floor and will probably pass.  Messages of opposition should be sent to members of the Senate.
