(February 17) the House State Affairs Committee defeated Representative Dennis

style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>This resolution was intended to prohibit
the Public Employee Retirement System (PERSI) from putting in place a 1% cost of
living increase for retirees. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Over
the years, PERSI has managed retirement accounts extremely well, and their
recommendations should be taken seriously.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>Of course, our retirees should receive the support.</FONT></P>

Representative Eric Anderson (R-District 1) moved to reconsider.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The vote on a motion to pass HCR 042
passed, along party lines.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Next,
the resolution will be considered on the House floor and will probably
pass.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Messages of opposition should
be sent to members of the Senate.</FONT></P>
