That's what appellate courts are for, Roger, . . . in case some civil
court judge gets a bit gratuitous in his/her rewarding of damages.

Was the Supreme Court fair in reducing damages to a a few million dollars
upon Exxon's appeal, although damages resulting from the Valdez oil spill
are currently estimated to exceed $40 billion (billion with a"B"), not to
mention the lives, families, and communities it has ruined?
