Actually, the McD case was because the manager made the coffee very hot, 
hotter than specs., so people were less likely to get as many refills.  the 
lady would not have been burned as badly if the coffee were at the 
recommended temperature.

In general though I do agree that in many instances awards may exceed 
damages.
