Yes, the contribution scam is intended to muddy the waters about
where Palin stands on the abortion/prolife issue and to "hurt" her.

Here is an excerpt from an email that I received from someone wanting
me to participate in this scheme.

The Subject Line was:

Subject: Punk Palin Today!

Excerpt:

>Make a donation to Planned Parenthood. In Sarah Palin's name. And
>here's the good part: when you make a donation to PP in her name,
>they'll send her a card telling her that the donation has been made
>in her honor. Here's the link to the Planned Parenthood website

The intent seems clear to me. It is unfortunate that it is so unclear to you.

But consider this - suppose that we get folks together, especially
those around here that don't agree with or like Nick Geir. Let's
send a bunch of donations, on his behalf, to the American Nazi Party
- and then on youtube and internet chat rooms and politico and
........... Nick is also a "public" person. Would you think this was
acceptable? You see, I don't and I would condemn that behavior just
as much as I am condemning the PP program.

I'll stick with my word choice - they fit the framed incident perfectly.

Yes, Gov. Palin has made her personal values about abortion clear
(see the reference provided by Hansen).
