[Vision2020] GM Opens New China Factory, As US GM Workers Layed Off...

The globalization deregulation free trade optimists insisted we could
market US products to China and help the US economy, as they the pushed for
global open markets.  But major US multinationals like General Motors can
sometimes make more profit manufacturing products in nations with cheap
labor, limited health care and worker benefits, less environmental
regulations, lower taxes, etc. to sell their products in the global
marketplace, bypassing US manufacturing and the hiring of US workers.  And
the consequences for US workers, competing in this global
market environment, as US taxpayers are being stuck with billions of dollars
for a GM bailout?

DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. says it has put the brakes on construction
of a new factory in Flint, Mich., that will make engines for two of its most
important new products.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site that GM on
Wednesday formally opened a new plant in China to build the Cruze.
