[Vision2020] Shoes thrown at President Bush

Scott,
I don't doubt many of us feel anger at the Bush administration for his failed administration and for his lack of leadership. I for one think he will go down in History as the worst President in at least 50 years.
However, I don't have the right to assault elected leaders in our country. I don't have the right to do that to another people's elected leaders either because I don't agree with their decisions or political policies.
If democratically elected people are harassed, assaulted, and possibly injured for doing work on behalf of the people that elected them, we have no democracy.
If this man was denied representation, which he has not been, I could sympathize. But that is not the case. Assaulting a democratically elected leader doing his/her job as an elected official representing those people, is an assault on every person he/she represents.
But what is also damaging in this assault, is that it shows people who want to hurt the US that it can assault our political leaders because the Secret Service is not prepared for anything unusual or creative.
Best Regards,
Donovan
