Thank you, Tom, for reminding us that, unfortunate as it is, Wilson has said and does believe just that -- "that U.S. slavery was OK." He said that a good Christian man could own slaves with nary a worry about it being sinful, and while I find that a little hard to square with his later assertion that the abolition of slavery was a case of "good riddance," I have no doubt, and neither should anyone else, that Wilson believes that very thing.
Which, of course, Witmer is well aware of.
