Thank you, Tom, for reminding us that, unfortunate as it is, Wilson has said and does believe just that -- "that U.S. slavery was OK." He said that a good Christian man could own slaves with nary a worry about it being sinful, and while I find that a little hard to square with his later assertion that the abolition of slavery was a case of "good riddance," I have no doubt, and neither should anyone else, that Wilson believes that very thing.

Which, of course, Witmer is well aware of.

keely

> From: thansen@moscow.com
> To: cdwitmer@hotmail.com; vision2020@moscow.com
> Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2007 06:48:30 -0800
> Subject: Re: [Vision2020] [CORRECTED SPELLING] Rights and Wrongs
>
> Christopher Witmer stated:
>
> "Nobody that I know of has said "that US slavery was OK," and when you call
> someone who has NOT said that an idiot for allegedly having said that, it is
> you who becomes not only an idiot but also a slanderer."
>
> >From "Southern Slavery As It Was" (written by Steve Wilkins and Douglas
> Wilson) at:
>
> http://tinyurl.com/26gpaa
>
> "Slavery as it existed in the South was not an adversarial relationship with
> pervasive racial animosity.
