[Vision2020] School District Math

Sorry if I pushed a hot-button again for a bunch of you.  I really was curious only about how the district came up with its numbers for the percentage increases of school lunches.  I just thought the legal notice was rather confusing in the way it was written.  I'll admit I did tie thing into the Weitz boondoggle, poke a little fun at the legal system for writing convoluted documents, and I did make reference to the district kids paying for adult errors.

But I am still curious about the 9%, 11%, 14% and / or 105% increases.  

In a way I think this serves to illustrate the more global picture:  here is a legal document, issued by the school district, containing a labyrinth of verbage, arithmetic errors (or at least some hand-waving over the numbers) which is purportedly informing everyone what is happening within the school district.  It's so confusing everyone just says "What the hell - it's for the school it has to be good.  And for love of Mike it's only 25 cents!"  Well, 25 cents now, 1.5 million dollars later.  It's not the case-in-point incident that is so nefarious; it's the precedent it sets that can be damaging.

Maybe Ms Mix can clear up the Legal Notice verbage for me.  After all "I know just a tad more about MSD's history since 2002 than you do, I imagine."

And I'm not sure how it logically follows that  my comment about "kids subsidizing  adult lunches" (that was in reference to the adults paying a 9% increase while the kids pay 11% to 14%) is an attempt to" mislead people by suggesting the "adult lunches" are for anyone other than moms, dads, grandparents and other family members who might drop in to have lunch with little Roberto before the unveiling of his big science fair project."

I'm led to understand Mr Campbell has been teaching logic for about 25 years now and I'm sure he can help you as well.
