[Vision2020] Give Steven Sitler a Chance

At the risk of sounding like a defender of Steven Sitler / Doug Wilson /
Christ Church / lump-em together sex-crime offenders, your idea is, ummmmm
what's the word . . .oh yes - ludicrous.  Yes yes, I understand the
reasoning behind your suggestion, but even an off-the-cuff, tongue-in-cheek,
sarcastic remark should be thought out a bit more, and at least acknowledge
there is some understanding of the facts of the case, and how the law,
treatment, and monitoring progress after release from jail function to
attempt to keep society safe.

chance  to prove that Sitler has been cured of his habit of debauching
children."

Although this is a minor point, I find slurs and namecalling offensive, and
I believe it serve only to detract from the argument being made.
Unfortunately it seems to be the modus operandi on this site, and seemingly
by those residents who profess equality, civility, and tolerance.  Mr Sitler
will probably never be "cured" - most people suffering from a deviancy or
"addiction" (not my word - I believe that terms such as sex addiction or
food addiction are inaccurate and without meaning, and those who use them
don't understand the meaning of "addiction" - but that is another topic)
cannot be "cured."  The best one can hope is that the individual learns what
triggers the desire, and has learned how to effectively use the thought
processing and behavioral modification tools they have been given in
therapy  to remove themselves from the situation and reduce the desires and
impulses.  Think "reformed alcoholic or drug user" who is presented with a
chance do drink or get high.  Most are never "cured" in the sense they can
ever drink or use drugs again without falling into the destructive spiral of
abuse.  So the idea that Mr Sitler has been cured by his year in jail and
therapy is rather inaccurate.

Yes yes I understand the point you are trying to make, but I think this
reflects your lack of understanding of the situation for one, and even
worse, you (and Mr Hansen who thinks this is "An excellent suggestion
Wayne") are effectively lobbying for Mr Sitler to be placed in the very
situation that will likely trigger a re-offense, meaning you would like to
place children at risk to prove your point!!  And Mr Sitler is the monster
here?!?!?!

Of lesser importance, but still germane to the point (that being education
and understanding) such an "arrangement" would be in violation of Mr
Sitler's probation, which sort of make the entire argument moot.

See the above discussion on "cure" and substitute "elimination of
propensity" where applicable.

support to this decisive,  proof-of-the-pudding test of both Sitler's cure
and Wilson's honesty."

Assuming for arguments sake that Mr Wilson could in fact approach the court
with such a motion, I'm afraid I won't be able to attend to support your
desire to place children at risk so you can point fingers and smugly say "I
told you so."  Shame on you.  I also believe Doug Wilson is fully aware that
Mr Sitler is "incurable", as is the court since they placed him on probation
for the rest of his life - so no unsupervised contact with minors.  And I
must admit I don't see the connection between Mr Wilson "winning" this
motion and his honesty.

And to Mr Hansen -  "Now, if you will excuse me, I have some flyers to
design for Monday."

I assume you have been very, very careful in planning this, but you may want
to put some disclaimers on your flyers to avoid being perceived as a
harasser or intimidator, or driving anyone else to harass or intimidate.
