[Vision2020] And The Beat Goes On!

Roger,

I never said that you were a hypocrite. Please read my posts more carefully.

At first I made a hypothetical claim: if I am a hypocrite, then so are you and Crabtree (since you failed to comment against Farris). Then, in the most previous post, I gave you a chance to prove that you weren't a hypocrite by condemning Farris. Of course, just because you don’t prove something it doesn’t follow that it is false.

I think that it is fine that you don't want to speak out against Farris's comments and I respect the reasons that you gave. But a while back you explicitly called me out for failing to speak out against a critic of Schwaller, so I decided to return the favor!

The moral of the story is that we all pick and choose when and whom to criticize, in part based on what we read, who made the post, what bothers us, etc. None of us does it perfectly -- we're human! Failure to criticize is no proof of hypocrisy.

I must say, though, that we should all agree not to mention other people's children in the midst of our critical comments (as Farris did) -- this has got to be way out of line and speaking out against it should be encouraged.

Joe

I am sorry that Joe thinks I am a hypocrite. I have admonished those on both sides to tone it down and be more civil. As to a reference to some ones son, I may have missed it. I do not read all posts relating to Christ Church. Again I would like to see personal insults by everyone to sease. As to the first quote by Doug Ferris. I thought it was "It is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt". I have always attributed it to Cal Coolidge. According to Google it is Abe Lincoln. The version Doug used is close to those of George Elliott and Mark Twain.
