Please do not do this. The best way you can show support for the service
members as well as help build up our country is to support the service
members, not rip into them for doing their job.
To say any of this would help others who are considering joining the
military understand the "folly of their decision" is just plain bunk! This
is a coward's way of justifying an attempt to make other feel bad for
deciding to be of service to their country. Do I agree with the war? On
many levels - no. BUT, I would never think to hold the service members
responsible or have them pay a price by embarrassing them by doing this type
of thing, either.
What have any of you done to let the President and Congress know your
feelings? What have you done to reduce your consumption of oil and other
products of those financing this war by promoting it? Going after the
service members or trying to discourage young people from joining what could
possibly be a life altering and supportive organization is not productive
nor is it patriotic. This country has made many mistakes in the past and I
am not saying being in Iraq isn't one of them. What I am saying is going
after this small group of people who are only doing what they feel is best
for them and their country is JUST WRONG.
I would be terribly disappointed and reticent to call any of you friends if
you do to this march against our service members. Yes, I get you could care
less - but you better start caring for the people whose lives you are
impacting by being this shallow and this unfeeling. There is absolutely
nothing worse than having a bunch of know-it-alls who have never done a
day's service telling those of us who have and are putting our lives on the
line for you to be able to continue to have the freedoms you have now,
calling us names and demeaning our life's mission.
You are not promoting diplomacy or peace - you are encouraging the people to
stand up against their own children and ridicule them.
Shame on all of you that decide to go to this "march for freedom" or
whatever the hell else you call it. Shame!
J :]
