News Information for Immediate Release

A lecture series titled "Leadership: From Triumph to Toxicity"
has been announced at the University of Idaho. Presentations on the
psychology of leadership will examine how notable figures such as Kenneth
Lay (Enron Corporation), Mark Foley (U.S. Congressman), and Ted Haggard
(National Association of Evangelicals) became dominant leaders with
disastrous flaws.

The news media has given extensive coverage to the failures of
high profile leaders in recent years. The fallout from the collapse of
Enron has cost hundreds of millions to innocent investors. The political
scandal surrounding the revelation of inappropriate communication from
Congressman Foley (R-FL) played a role in the election results of 2006 in
which the Democrats took control of both Houses of Congress. And the
disgrace of the Rev. Haggard has extended the embarrassment of Catholic and
Protestant Clergy as American's faith in religious institutions has taken
another hit.

The lecture series will examine what successful leaders are,
what they do (better), and why successful leaders fail. It is open to the
public.

Presenters for the lecture series are well versed in both the
theory and practice of leadership. Richard Reardon, Ph.D. (Psychologist,
University of Idaho) teaches courses in organizational behavior and
workplace relations at UI and at military bases around the world. He has an
extensive publication record and has received numerous awards in recognition
of his teaching skill. He currently serves as the Chair of the Department
of Psychology and Communication Studies at UI.

A Fortune 500 Executive Coach, Jerald Duff, Ph.D. (President,
The Duff Group, Dayton, OH), has worked with executive level leadership in
corporate America as well as in educational institutions and non-profit
organizations. His résumé includes General Motors, Chrysler Corporation,
Sencorp, Trelleborg YSH, and universities such as University of Buckingham
(U.K.), University of Dayton, Pepperdine, and Trevecca Nazarene University.
He has also been a member of clergy restoration committees seeking to
rehabilitate ministers following a moral failure.

The lecture series will take place on Tuesday, January 30, at
7:00 p.m. in the UI Law Building Courtroom Auditorium. The public is
invited to the event free of charge and encouraged to participate in the
discussion. For more information call the event sponsor, Sciphre Institute,
