[Vision2020] lawyers

As of 2004, Idaho had the lowest geographic practice cost index (GPCI) for
malpractice insurance premiums in the nation. Maybe it is because Idaho
juries are less willing to award outrageous amounts? Perhaps Idaho juries
have more common sense.
To be honest, I have used a personal injury attorney. I was involved in a
car accident, in which I was no way culpable. My car was totaled, my
injuries included 11 compression fractures in my back. I was in physical
therapy for weeks and unable to work for about a year.
After attorney's fees and medical payments, I recieved a check for $1,600.
No, I didn't leave out any zeros. $1,600.
Why? Because, as my attorney told me, my medical records showed that I had
told my doctor that I had tried an illicit drug as a sophomore in high
school. Nevermind that I was about 27 at the time of the accident.

Kai,

As a long-time reader, I know that you did not mention Idaho. I did not
read 'Idaho' anywhere in your anti-lawyer post. I thought this would be
clear to you but it was not; let me say again that I am not confused and
under the mis-conception that you mentioned Idaho. Nor am I
hyperventilating, as you seem to think, at least based upon your advise
below.

I asked my question because I want to know if you believe lawyers are
responsible for high malpractice insurance rates for Idaho doctors. I don't
know if your responses are hostile or patronizing, but you don't seem to
want to answer my question. I'm not sure why not.

Sunil
