[Vision2020] Re: Al Gore Wins an Oscar for...

Thanks for the update, I don't have TV so I wasn't aware he actually  
won the Oscar. I did hear he was nominated for the Nobel Peace  
Prize... now that may be a bit of a stretch considering his lifestyle.

I have also wondered if Al Gore is actually practicing what he  
preaches. I congratulate his efforts in producing An Inconvenient  
Truth, it's a great film and is based on solid science (highly  
recommended viewing for anyone that hasn't seen it), but he needs to  
set an example or he won't be taken seriously! I wonder if he  
actually offset all the emissions from the numerous flights he took  
all over the world giving his slideshow speech and promoting the  
movie. Planes use a lot of fuel and dump their emissions high into  
the atmosphere where they have an even more detrimental effect than  
emissions on the surface.

Another thing that was omitted from the film was a very easy  
lifestyle change that can help combat global warming: eating lower on  
the food chain. The factory farming industry is one of the biggest  
polluters in this country, and growing crops to feed animals and then  
eating the animals is insanely wasteful (it takes about 20 times the  
resources to produce beef as it does to produce plants on the same  
land). A lot of transport fuel is used in the factory farming  
industry as well, as animals are very rarely bred, raised,  
slaughtered, and processed in the same place. I thought Al should  
have at least mentioned it at the end when they list what you can do  
to combat global warming. But then again, I'm sure he probably eats  
meat and didn't want to be taken as a hypocrite. I think I ought to  
write him a letter on the subject. I'm sure he'd be interested in  
hearing how he could lose those post-election pounds all while  
helping combat global warming.

Geez, I had no idea his house was that big. Please tell me that  
mansion at least has solar panels!?!?!! Sounds like he needs to start  
practicing what he preaches or he will be losing credibility. That  
would be a shame, because his film was very well-researched and  
presents a lot of truth.

Guess I better get the address of his mansion so I can write him a  
letter and let him know what he can do to combat global warming by  
changing his own lifestyle.... :)
