Will a Reservoir Solve Moscow's Water Woes?

The Moscow Civic Association will sponsor a free public forum on Monday, October 9, at 7pm at the 1912 Center in Moscow focusing on the suggestion of building a reservoir for an alternate community water source.

As the region's source of water, the below-ground aquifers, continues to diminish, one suggestion is building a reservoir (similar to Troy's Spring Valley Reservoir) near Moscow. This forum, entitled "Water Solutions: Is Moscow Ready for a Reservoir?", will discuss the pros and cons of that option.

A five-member panel will lead the discussion at the forum. The public is encouraged to bring your questions and ideas to share with the panel members.

The panel will include: Gary Riedner, Moscow city supervisor; Steve Robischon, the Palouse Basin Advisory Committee executive manager; Jerry Fairley, UI assistant professor of hydrogeology; Dianne French, a board member of the Palouse Water Conservation Network; and Mark Solomon, coordinator of the Latah County Hydrogeologic Project.

The Moscow Civic Association is a non-profit citizen's organization that strives to improve the quality of life for Moscow residents. The mission of the Moscow Civic Association is to inform community members about important local issues and encourage civic participation.
