The Death Penalty was not totally taken out of the picture until about 1972;
so, it was in effect during such cases as the "Boston Strangler", "The
Manson Cases", even as far back as the "Lindberg Kidnapping".
Wasn't a deterrent then, isn't now.
I do agree there are some people we simply can not have on the streets
anymore - Duncan and Coe and Sitler being a few - but the Death Penalty is
not the cure-all that ToKnee seems to think it is. If people have no
respect for life, having a law that dictates that death is the ultimate
price they will pay if they violate the life of another, is NOT going to
matter to the perp - ANY perp.
Having the Death Penalty on the table only guarantees that the convicted
will NEVER be able to get out of jail. Works for me.
