All:
Tim "I'm don't comment much on Vision2020 about the horrendous abuses of the
Republican party, but suddenly find religion when the Democrats are in
power" Lohrmann indicates below that the "mind boggles" at Nancy Pelosi's
decisions.
For my part, after the Democrats took the US Congress this month, I
expressed to several activist political friends the opinion that we should
not expect the Democrats to work any miracles, nor did the Democratic
victory indicate a sea change in the mindset of the US populace. If the
Iraq war was going well, and the Foley scandal not so "badly timed," I think
the Republicans would be back in power, and the lies and misguided policy
decisions that led the US into war in Iraq, decisions that should not ever
be excused or forgotten, would be forgot or excused by many.
Of course the Democrats are in bed with many of the same corporate fat cat
power brokers as the Republicans, and now the Democratic party has become,
despite all the rhetoric, just "Republican lite." Of course there is
corruption and ethics violations in the Democratic party. You don't have
all the millions going down with campaign finance and lobbying and not have
corruption and ethics violations somewhere. Where there's lots of money,
look for crooks and gangsters to find an angle, even if they have expensive
suits and high paying corporate and or political jobs (the revolving door
between corporate employment and political life blurs the line between the
two), and talk in lofty idealistic terms. Those sorts of gangsters are
really the worst, given their pose that deceives so many.
If this US Congress can get more substantive action taken to address global
warming, if nothing else, I'll take it over the previous Republican
controlled US Congress. The fate of future generations, and the planet's
biosphere, is at stake, and this fate transcends the selfish interests of
everyone alive today.
