Joe,

I'm not sure how the federal setup is but the party with the most dudes 
and dudeetts sets the committee roster. There fore if there are 49 to 
49 to 2 I'm not sure what will happen.

I asked some folks on the bus ride to work this morning about this very 
issue
and here is the explanation I received. Apparently, Independents must 
decide
whether they want to caucus with Democrats or Republicans. Since both 
of the
Independents were Democrats, it is assumed (or perhaps it is known) 
that they
will caucus with the Democrats.

Can anyone else verify -- or dispute -- this explanation?

as an Independent. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) also won.

when there are 2 Independents that hold seats and two seats that are 
still outstanding...? 
 
The correct number is 49 (r), 47 (d), 2 (i). 
 
For the record I voted for only WHIG candidates.....
