The points I mentioned were pretty much pulled verbatim from this:
http://www.thefire.org/pdfs/5b7b67bf500f9b2eb4fc622b70ff3ab1.pdf
It would seem to be indisputable that Ed Swan behaved like a total jerk in
the way he deceptively promoted his tale of woe in cyberspace. That
certainly makes me want to go back and see if there wasn't also outright
fabrication and misrepresentation with regard to the original claims that he
had been subject to discrimination on account of his conservative
sociopolitical views.
I had been under the impression that the objective facts of the case as
concerns WSU -- the "who did and said what" -- had been more or less
objectively established but that there was a difference of opinion as to
whether all that constituted a violation of Ed Swan's rights, or, to put it
another way, improper behavior on the part of WSU: with FIRE taking the
position that what WSU freely admitted doing constituted a violation of
Swan's rights.
Apparently Ed Swan could give Rush Limbaugh lessons in how to be a big fat
idiot. But apart from the amount of publicity generated for his case, how
(if at all) does that impinge on what transpired between WSU and FIRE?
Still trying to get a clear handle on the facts, I remain,
