unbreakable 20-year lease. It's just that simple."--Tom Hansen
Let me get this straight. In the event that the Moscow Residents reject a business, and possibly go broke, you want them to still stick around for 20 more years? And how exactly would they pay for this lease if they are broke?
Also, who would they be signing the lease with it if they own the property and building? The state? How much do they owe the state if they do not use their own property?
What would stop someone from building two 99,999 sq ft buildings? Or four 49,999 with two next to each other? Or one 100,000 sq ft. building and a 80,000 sq. ft. next to a 20,000 sq ft.? What constitutes a "building"? If the lube, oil and tire center is a separate building, does that count? Is your disagreement with Wal-Mart really the fact that lube oil and tire center not be connected to the grocery and retail sections of the building? If so, I am sure that Walmart can meet that demand, but I fail to see how it fulfills any real need or concern for Moscow Residents.

Are any of those businesses considering the development of two 200,000

abandoned in a few years?

It's just that simple.

Let me preface this by saying I'm neither "for" nor "against" a super
Wal Mart coming to town. Not yet, anyway. I do look forward to seeing
how this plays out, though, and moving forward.
I keep seeing the "only 11 miles apart" regarding the proposed Moscow
and Pullman Super Wal Marts. I just got to thinking about other places
that are "only 11 miles apart":
- Moscow Safeway and Pullman Safeway;
- Chipman-Taylor Chevrolet and Karl Tyler (nee Nelson) Chevrolet;
- Paradise Ford (Moscow) and Jess Ford (Pullman);
- Wysup Chrysler/Dodge (Pullman) and Baggott Motors (Palouse);
- Moscow Auto Body Supercenter and Pullman Auto Body Supercenter;
- J&L Radio Shack (Moscow) and DLH Radio Shack (Pullman);
- Moscow Building Supply and Pullman Building Supply;
- Beedy Napa (Pullman) and Boyce Napa (Moscow);
I won't even go into restaurants.
Yes, I realize none of them are the largest retailer in the world, but
if we have enough people to support that many car dealers . . .
Just food for thought.
