Gabe Rench stated to the City Council that last year's Trinity Festival was
a public festival and that his "security" (of which he was the supervisor)
had no reason to prevent people from being there.
He (Gabe Rench) simply passed information on to the City Council that he
heard for his "security". He further stated that the complaints could not
be totally reliable since he was not physically there to observe them.
All of this information was presented by Gabe Rench, the festival security
supervisor who was not there to observe (first hand) his "security" on the
job (according to his own testimony to the city council on Monday
6/19/2006).
So, what we have here is a non-accountable security supervisor presenting
information about inappropriate decisions having been made last year by his
"security" that he did not supervise first hand.
This year they are adding alcohol to this mix.
Gee, what can possibly go wrong?

sitting next to you saying, "Damn . . . that was fun!"

Gabe Rench made a statement - heck, several of them - to the Admin Committee
that was less than honest when trying to convince the city to allow a beer
and wine garden in Friendship Square (which is a PARK), that the attendees
did not wear "badges" to the dance/party held during last year's Trinity
Fest...but if you look at the photos that they have on their own web site,
it clearly shows the dancers, attendees, musicians, even kids wearing them
during the festivities on Main Street.
The problem with the badges was that several people of the community NOT
associated with this "festival" were not allowed into their homes at the
Moscow Hotel or into the businesses on Main Street because they did not have
badges. Gabe flatly denied anyone had badges and that to his knowledge, no
one was denied access to the area for ANY reason.
Is this going to happen again at this year's fest? Is there some reason
this thing couldn't be held at the East Side Park rather then in a major
area of the CBD, where businesses have to close for 5 hours, peak hours, of
the day just to accommodate one group?
