GARDENERS TAKE NOTE: One of Washington Idaho Symphony’s most popular annual
events, Musical Gardens, includes gardens of fascinating diversity this
year. WIS invites Moscow gardeners to wend your way down the hill on June
22 (5:30-8:30) and take in the varied styles of three neighbors to the
south. Added to the sensory delight of the gardens, you will hear small
ensembles from the orchestra, enjoy good company, and sample lovely hors
d’oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased at any one of the locations. Start at
any of the three. Saunter through the contained, intimate garden at the
President’s house on the campus of Lewis Clark State College. Wear
comfortable shoes to take in the two-acre natural, but carefully planned
“tamed wilderness” garden at 523 Cedar Avenue, Lewiston. A hop, skip and a
jump across the river will take you to a Clarkston Heights “square-foot”
garden at 2966 24th Street. Dorothy Nichols will describe these gardens in
more detail in her column in the Lewiston Morning Tribune next Wednesday,
the day before this popular fundraiser. Tickets at each garden location are
$15 each; to purchase a ticket in advance ($12) call either Dorothy White
(208-743-2751) or Marie Ormsby (509-243-1383). Musical Gardens is a unique
way to celebrate solstice and support our own truly fine symphony orchestra.
