[Vision2020] The Keely Emerine Mix / Doug Wilson discussion

Ellen,

Here's the curious thing.

What does it matter when it was written? Has Wilson's alleged God or Wilson (remember we may be referring to the same thing here with both titles) changed over the last 15 years?

I thought that Wilson and/or his god was immutable.

What is interesting is that the Cultmaster is unwilling to give a straight, unambiguous response as to whether he/she thinks the article is true and/or represents cult dogma. Is his favorite color yellow?

Below are some extracts from the article at issue and some comments on the Cultmaster's immutability.

>From Credenda/Agenda (Christ Church Cult Official Organ), by Gregory Dickison [Comments added]:

http://www.credenda.org/old/issues/vol3/magi3-9.htm

"The civil magistrate is the minister of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer (Rom. 13:4). God has not left his civil minister without guidance on how to exercise his office. The Scriptures set forth clear standards of judgment for many offenses. Capital crimes, for example, include premeditated killing (murder), kidnapping, sorcery, bestiality, adultery, homosexuality, and cursing one's parents..."

"In contemporary American jurisprudence, none of these offenses is punishable by death, with the occasional exception of murder. The magistrates have dispensed with God's standards of justice. Some Christians believe this is an improvement. They would be horrified to think that the "harsh" penalties of the law should still be applied. Sometimes this is the result of the mistaken belief that the Old Testament has no further application after the advent of Christ. This is an exegetical problem. Too often, it is the result of a sinful view of the criminal. This sin is called pity."

"If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and serve other gods,". . . you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; but you shall surely kill him..." [Comment: Heresy: Beware, ye not of the cult!]

"If two men fight together, and the wife of one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of the one attacking him, and puts out the hand and seizes him by the genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not pity her..."

God commands the judge to evaluate the crime rather than the criminal. If the crime is one for which God requires death, then death must be the punishment. Your eye shall not pity. Neither is the repentance of the accused relevant to the imposition of the sentence.

"Thus, the Bible teaches that pity is not an option where God has decided the matter. The [civil] magistrate, God's minister, is to faithfully execute justice according to God's standard, not man's... This means that we must return to an obedience which confines pity within the bounds which God has established for us."

ACCURACY MATTERS

Christ Church pastor Doug Wilson was incorrectly quoted in the weekend paper due to a Daily News error.

In the front page article headlined, "Both sides point fingers; can there be

a middle ground?" Wilson was quoted as saying:

"I've never been in anything like this, and I've never changed my views on anything."

What he actually said was:

"I've never been in anything like this, and I've never changed. I've never changed what I do, [sic] I've not changed anything."

When anyone says:

"I've never changed. I've never changed what I do, [sic] I've not changed anything."

Most would take the ordinary meaning of this most curious and revealing utterance as:

"I have never made a mistake!!!"

For those Christians who believe that in some unfathomable, non-linguistically-intelligible/expressible way their alleged God, alleged Holy Ghost, and Jesus are one and the same, the only being who could assert that she/he/it has never made a mistake is an incarnations of GOD HIMSELF.

Hence, the above quote from Cult Master Wilson is equivalent to saying:

"I am God!!!"

[Can you say "Are we dealing with severe mental health problems here?"?]

However, in the delusional Wilson's defense, one could say he does resemble in one very pivotal way a certain Greek God: Narcissus*.

*Narcissus is remembered for having fallen in love with himself.

I know I was very surprised last night when I heard Doug Wilson tell the audience that the Dickison article was from 15 years ago. I really thought it was more recent.

So, was the article WRITTEN 15 years ago and only published more recently when they were looking for stuff to fill a few pages?

Also, on the Credenda Agenda website there's only 45 publications listed between Vol. 3, no. 9 (the one in question) and the current Vol.12, No. 1. So, Deacon, I don't know if your equation is going to work. That means there would be around 3 actual magazines printed per year. . . is that right?

As you can see, I'm pretty confussed by the whole thing. . . and Tom is going to make us all wait until TOMORROW to give us the answer. . . . Darn.

Well, I don't know if I have "direct links" to Anselm House, so I thought I'd give it a try.

According the article on your site, it is from volume 3, number 9. The current Credenda is volume 18, number 2. So, considering that volumes are incremented annually, I would guess that it was published roughly 15 (18 minus 3) years ago.

Do I win??? If so, let me know where I can pick up my CD.

  Thanks,

  Deacon

How do I know? I noted the issue and date when I downloaded it from the Credenda

written. But that would be taking the fun out of it.

There is a free MP3 CD of last night's

discussion in it for the guess that come the closes.

Those of you with links to Anselm House

are disqualified from entering. There is an outside chance that you might
actually know the answer to this query in spite of what Doug Wilson said last
    night.

    This offer terminates tomorrow (Thursday,

7/13/2006) morning at 10:00 AM when I temporarily exchange the friendly terrain
of the Palouse for the crowded community of Thousand Oaks, California.

I am listening to the fascinating discussion between Keely and Doug on

KRFP, so I'll make this brief. Keely made reference to an article Christ Church
attorney and former public defender Greg Dickison wrote for Credenda Agenda
called "Your Eye Shall Not Pity." This article came up in reference
to a call from Lois Blackburn asking if Doug still believed in offering
homosexuals the "option" of being stoned to death or exile. Keely
referred to the article, noting that it had been written said in 2003. In
response, Doug said that it was written some 15 years ago. (What Doug didn't do
    was actually answer Lois' question.)

Anyhow, I now have satellite, so I thought I'd do a quick search of the
Credenda Agenda archives. Greg's article appeared in Volume 3. Unfortunately,
Credenda online seems to have been updated and copyrighted in 2005, or so says
the note at the bottom of the screen. The magazine now skips from Volume 2 to
    Volume 7. Volumes 3, 4, 5, and 6 are missing.

Good thing we have Tom Hansen's website, www.tomandrodna.com! Greg's article,
"Your Eye Shall Not Pity," may be read there in its entirety,
unedited and unexpurgated. Perhaps after the show, Doug might pay Tom's website
a visit and re-read Greg's piece. Keely asked Doug if he was now distancing
himself from Greg's piece and Credenda's published position on homosexuality.
Doug has yet to give a direct answer.

But I'm waiting. And waiting, and waiting . . .
