James

You are fighting a losing battle here. Basic Training or BCT is something
that everybody takes, regardless of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
Following BCT, everybody in the Army goes to their branches school for
Advanced Individual Training (AIT), in the case of infantry to Infantry AIT
where they go Blue on graduation and are assigned an 11B MOS designator.
11B10 is for all ranks below E-5 and 11B20 comes when you get three strips.
I was an 11B20.

As for Rangers, that is another specialty and so is Airborne. First you
have to get 11B before you head for those schools. My father was Airborne,
with the 502nd of the 101st. My brother in law and my nephew were Rangers.
I was just a lowly grunt.

What you said earlier was that the military took kids and made them bugs in
infantry training and convinced them that they were worthless. At least
three vets who know the process told you that you are incorrect and that the
military does not dehumanize, treat like a bug or attempt to make troops
into people who think they are worthless. The objective in training is to
make a unit and to make every person in a unit feel they are valued. Only
one of the three vets who commented supports the war in Iraq, but you felt
obligated to tell all three that we were John Wayne and to dismiss what you
were told by people with a little more knowledge than you have.

Tom Hansen did not comment, however, he was also an infantryman and from his
comments you can see that he is against the War in Iraq. You were
comnebting on an article posted by Hansen. Did you ask him if he was
treated like a bug or made to feel that he was of no vlaue when he went
through AIT?
