For the satellite view of the Targhee:

http://maps.google.com/?ll=44.35626,-111.247559&spn=0.503717,0.950317&t=h

The line where the clearcuts stop is the boundary
of Yellowstone Nat'l Park. It was and is an
inexcusable disgrace. After they were done with
the cut the local sawmills closed down as there
was nothing else left to log.

But the bottom line is the FS is by and large not
doing the bidding of the timber beast as
obviously anymore. IDL does. The only reason
they've slowed down up in the Priest is they've
run out of easy pickings and run into determined
opposition from Priest Lake homeowners some of
whom are quite well connected. The Floodwood
abuts no community and is virtually unknown
unless you're a logger or a back-country traveler.
