The line where the clearcuts stop is the boundary of Yellowstone
Nat'l Park. It was and is an inexcusable disgrace. After they were
done with the cut the local sawmills closed down as there was nothing
else left to log.

But the bottom line is the FS is by and large not doing the
bidding of the timber beast as obviously anymore. IDL does. The only
reason they've slowed down up in the Priest is they've run out of easy
pickings and run into determined opposition from Priest Lake
homeowners some of whom are quite well connected. The Floodwood abuts
no community and is virtually unknown unless you're a logger or a
back-country traveler.

What the amount of land has to do with it is fairly simple. You
are citing a few thousands of acres in one bad management area.
I was citing among others, the Targhee Caribou where the clear cutting
was over a million acres, which is almost more forested land than IDL
manages altogether. You cite one small creek drainage and I can
return to USFS clear cuts that covered complete River systems.

Nobody is without sin here. The USFS, the BLM, IDL and private
timber all have a lot of bad record to live down.

That is the Priest Lake SA for IDL and they manage 184,000 acres total
and cut 400-500 acres a year. There are individual clear cut
areas on the Targhee that are bigger than the whole ownership in the
Priest Lake SA. So which is more egregious?
Can you sing? I am thinking of a Ren and Stimpy tune that my
boys taught me.

The IDL has managed less than 10% of the public lands in the state of
Idaho and you make the BS claim that IDL is responsible for the most
egerious errors in Land Management? Care to back up your
claim with anything other than hot air?
You could perhaps teach me the Ren and Stimpy tune, but I'm not sure
you could show me the good side of IDL management.

What does the AMOUNT of land you manage have to do with whether you
make egregious errors in managing it?

Mark Solomon and others on Vision2020 are more familiar with forest
practices in this part of the state than I am, but even I would have
suggested you check out the Floodwoods.
